Three years ago my friend asked me to move to Hawaii with her. At first I was hesitant to quit my job and leave my life in Arizona, but the more I thought about it, the more it seemed like the best path. So I followed my instincts and decided to just go for it. During the first few months I spent most of my time alone. This gave me the chance to truly begin my mediation practice.
I spent many hours hiking the Ko’olau Mountain Range, which deepened my connection to nature. Self-reflection allowed me to both uncover and remove the false identity I had constructed. For the longest time, both consciously and subconsciously, I let my environment affect me in a way that truly stunted my growth. As I developed spiritually, I let go of my persona and began nurturing my true self.
I met Gabby at a yoga studio in Honolulu and we immediately became friends. After getting to know each other, I realized she also started a meditation practice. Shortly thereafter we created Meditate Movement to share our experiences and describe how meditation reinforces the self and breaks habitual autopilot behavior.
Meditation has not only positively impacted my life, it has changed the direction of my life, which is why I feel passionate about sharing my experience and teaching this ancient practice.
We intend to post blogs that offer unique perspective and insight. Here are a few topics we will explore:
Meditation as a tool for transcending internal and external negativity
Yoga as a way of life, not just a physical practice
How to prevent continuously evolving technology from impacting your self
Separating the self from identity
The symbiotic relationship between meditation and mindfulness
Cultivating stillness and peace amidst daily stress
How diet significantly impacts mental acuity
Assessing, altering and improving existing relationships
We hope you enjoy each post!
